Good things to know and have in mind

Here is a list of things that might be good to know before you come to us

You can help us to maintain our short wait times
We understand that, when you need to consider the needs and whims of your children, it is not always easy to keep your appointment. Obviously we will be happy if you can arrive at your scheduled time – it makes it easier for us to ensure that your child and other children can quickly see a doctor. Your appointment time corresponds to the latest time you should register at the reception. Shortly thereafter is your child going to be measured and weighed. This is done in preparation for the visit with a paediatrician, which normally begins 15 minutes after the specified appointment time.

ID
You need to show your ID with each visit. Please do not forget to bring one with you.

Payment
If you are suppose to pay a patient fee, you pay only during the visit, by either cash or credit card.

Cancel a visit 24 hours before your appointment to the paediatric department
If you contact us within 24 hours prior to the visit you can cancel or reschedule an appointment with one of our paediatricians at a paediatric department at no cost. For cancellations less than 24 hours before the visit or if you are absent without cancellation, we charge a fee of 200 SEK. You can cancel your appointment via an automated voice mail by phone 08-406 23 70 (pushbutton 2) or via email meddelande@bsmartina.se - indicate the child's name and the date and time of the visit you wish to cancel. This service is available at all times.

Emergency Ward
Our emergency ward is adapted for treating minor illnesses and/or accidents. If your child suffers from a major illness/injury, you should go directly to one of the large hospitals that have the resources to treat such problems. This also applies in cases where extremely specialized expertise and/or intensive care are required.

Parking
There are five parking spots in front of the hospital. A parking permit is handed out at our reception desk. You may also use the parking area by Sophiahemmet or the parkway running up Valhallavägen.

Pharmacy
The nearest pharmacy is Elgen at Drottning Kristinas väg 1 (inside Östra Station), which is open Monday-Friday 9am – 6pm, Telephone: +46 (0)771-45 04 50

ATM
The nearest ATM is at Valhallavägen 75 adjacent to underground station Tekniska Högskolan/Östra Station.

Restaurant and cafeteria
There is a restaurant at Sophiahemmet in building G and cafeteria in building A.

Smoking
Since August 20, 2008 the whole of Sophiahemmet’s hospital area (inside the gates) is a non smoking area. We hope that all the visitors will respect this regulation.

Professional secrecy agreement
All employees have a professional secrecy agreement. As a patient, you can be sure that no information is passed on about you or your health condition. Only with your consent, the information may be passed on to, for example, another clinic or hospital.
